I am Chris Perrin, an English singer/songwriter.

I perform as Race Car Hearts across the UK...sometimes with my band, sometimes solo with my acoustic guitar.

I fell in love with the guitar aged 14, after hearing Neil Young’s ‘Live Rust’ album, at which point I sold everything I owned in order to purchase my first acoustic guitar. I began writing songs and performing as a solo artist in local folk clubs in and around Peterborough, UK.

Aged 16, I met drummer Mark Denney (Attack! Vipers!) at Portsmouth College and, after bonding over our shared love of Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr, we formed the band THIRST. We signed to ZIP Records in the US and experienced strong reviews from the rock press for our output, including the debut album ‘From Mouth To Skin’. We performed across the US and Europe, supporting the likes of Bush, Feeder, Therapy?, Llama Farmers, The Levellers, and Evan Dando (Lemonheads), before splitting.

Following the split, I spent time writing and performing acoustically before starting Race Car Hearts as a solo project in 2010. I teamed up with acclaimed producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals) to record an album’s worth of material, and soon after I signed a publishing deal with Rainbird Music Ltd.

The debut RCH album 'Silent Momentum' was released in the USA via ZIP Records, in 2013, and drew comparisons to Coldplay, Pink Floyd, and The Cure. Critics described the material ‘thought-provoking’ and ‘spell-binding’. The album's first single ‘Mother Midnight’ has been picked up by Sky Sports for use during their coverage of the Premier League season.

During 2014 RCH released 'Yearbook Sessions' - a collection of limited edition recordings released on the first day of each month throughout the year.

2017 will see a new RCH release...details coming soon.
